CPA 2500

The CPA 2500 is Chord's entry level pre-amplifier designed for use prior to the main high power amplification of a quality hi-fi system. It utilizes a highly accurate, high-performance balanced output amplifier section. The CPA 2500 is transparent and flexible in its ability to “disappear” within the music and its open airy sound is instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with Chord Electronics.

The CPA 2500 comes equipped with two pairs of balanced and one pair of unbalanced outputs and a full function remote control. The output stage has been specially designed to perfectly match any Chord Electronics power amplifier. Six pairs of RCA phono style unbalanced inputs are configured for two CD players, one VCR or DVD player, one Radio or Tuner and two recording output monitors.

CPA 3000

The fully balanced CPA 3000 is the newest of Chord’s new generation pre-amplifiers. Utilizing innovative techniques and technology from the highly successful CPA 5000 reference pre-amplifier, the CPA 3000 features Chord’s latest Ultra High Frequency power supplies, a completely re-designed short signal path and ultra low noise circuit to give the very best noise floor performance.

The CPA 3000 is feature rich with four pair of XLR inputs, two pair of RCA inputs, tape loop, and fully balanced AV Bypass circuitry that allows for direct connection to an AV processor. The result is a completely flexible system capable of the purest two channel applications and converting for use in a multichannel AV system with a simple press of a button. Remote triggering outputs are also included.

CPA 5000

The CPA 5000 Reference pre-amplifier features Chord's latest Ultra High Frequency power supplies, a completely re-designed short signal path, ultra low noise circuit and solid milled aluminum shielding to prevent RF interference. The result of these enhancements is an amazing low noise floor below -130dB!

The functionality has been expanded to include: four pairs of fully balanced XLR inputs, four pairs of RCA unbalanced inputs, two completely independent tape/recording loops, six levels of gain which can be independently selected and stored for each input, and two low distortion, low noise headphone output jacks which are easily accessible on the front panel.

A fully balanced AV Bypass circuit allows direct connection to an AV processor at full signal level, routing the signal directly from input to output avoiding the volume control, and remote triggering outputs are available to activate power amplifiers or AV processors automatically when the pre-amp is powered up.

The signal detection indicators have been replaced with highly accurate VU meters. These give clear signal detection and level indication and can be easily enabled or disabled by a button on the front panel. As with all chord products each piece of metal work is machined from solid aluminum giving a superb rigid construction that gives unsurpassed vibration damping with stunning looks to match.

CPA 8000 Reference Preamplifier

The State-of-the-Art

The CPA 8000 is the ultimate high end reference product and is the perfect partner to the SPM 14000 mono block amplifiers. In the same double height format to match it has all the features of the already advanced CPA 5000 but now includes three pairs of outputs, true dual mono construction with separate power supplies for each channel, and separate left and right frequency EQ adjust.

Using two separate ultra high frequency power supplies gives the best possible channel separation and with our latest low noise circuitry the noise floor performance has been improved to beyond -135dB. Each of the power supplies and the sensitive volume, balance and EQ controls is surrounded by solid milled aluminium shielding to prevent RF interference.

Extra flexibility is now offered with three pairs of fully balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA phono outputs. Selection can be made manually via the front panel or using the supplied remote control.

Every input has six levels of adjustable gain that can be individually selected to prevent large changes in volume when switching between inputs. All settings are stored via the microprocessor even if power is removed.

This truly flexible system functions to provide both the purest two channel stereo reproduction then converts for use in a multichannel AV system with a simple press of a switch. A balanced AV monitor is provided check signal integrity or feed to another system.

 Chord CPA 8000 Preamplifier Frequency AdjustmentOn the front panel are the separate frequency EQ adjust controls for the left and right channels. Both the low and high frequencies can be adjusted to suit the room requirements. Each control rotates a milled aluminium disc with graduated adjustment levels clearly visible through the magnified and illuminated viewing port.
Signal detection is via the highly accurate VU meters with BBC ballistics which are incorporated into the front panel display. These give both clear signal detection and accurate input level. Naturally these may be selected or disabled as required. For headphone connectivity there are two low distortion, low noise headphone output jack sockets easily accessible on the front panel.

Remote triggering outputs are available at the rear of the unit to activate power amplifiers or AV processors as the aluminium front panel power switch is depressed. Remote control IR signals can be connected via a socket at the rear of the unit for easy incorporation into room control systems.
