Once again Hotel Bonaventure was host hotel for Montreal’s Salon Audio Fest, March 24-26. This event featured all the Chord DACs including the new Poly and Hugo2. Chord factory reps were on hand and presented our CanJam-type headphone demonstration in the second room. In the main room, pictured above, Bluebird Music and Montreal Chord and Spendor dealer, Codell Audio, presented an outstanding system featuring Chord’s new Blu MkII, DAVE DAC and powerful SPM 1200 stereo amplifier along with Spendor’s fantastic brand-new D9 loudspeakers.

The meaty sound of Joe Henderson’s tenor sax popped out of the mix with starting presence—something we could easily hear and enjoy. The system overall had an impressive combination of clarity and beauty, openness and substance: I could have stayed there all day.
